• Where is the Hangar Theatre located?

    The Hangar is located at 801 Taughannock Blvd, next to the idyllic Cass Park!

  • Does the theatre have a concessions bar?

    Yes. The concession bar will be open one hour prior to curtain. We offer a variety of snack and drink options including beer and wine. Items purchased at the concessions bar are allowed in the theatre. Picnicking in the park or outside the theatre under the front tent is allowed. No outside alcoholic beverages may be consumed on Hangar property, as stated in our NYS Liquor License.

  • How early should I arrive if I’m attending a performance?

    The theatre lobby, including our Box Office and Concessions bar, is open exactly one hour before curtain for every show.

    Also, during the summer, we host a free pre-show talk before every Mainstage performance. These “Prologues” begin 45 minutes before curtain and will be announced in the lobby before they get started. Please feel free to join us for those interesting conversations with theatre professionals! You do not need to have a ticket to the performance to attend.

  • How can I buy tickets?

    Tickets may be purchased in person, over the phone or online. Ticketing fees apply regardless of purchase method.

    In Person

    August – May, tickets can be purchased in person at the Business Offices in Center Ithaca (171 E State Street, Suite 230), from 10 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The office closes at noon on Opening Nights. The Box Office will be open at the theatre (801 Taughannock Blvd) one hour prior to curtain.

    June – July, the Hangar Box Office is located at the theatre from 12 PM – 6 PM, Monday through Saturday, and one hour prior to curtain for every Mainstage and KIDDSTUFF performance.

  • I want to buy tickets to more than one performance at a time, can I do that?

    You can add multiple performances to your online cart by selecting your tickets/seats for one performance, then viewing your cart and clicking “continue shopping.” This button will return you to the full list of upcoming events for which you can purchase additional tickets. You can always contact our Box Office for assistance to complete your requests over the phone or in person.

  • What are the ticketing fees? Why aren’t they just included in the price of the ticket?

    We want to provide the best and most convenient box office service for our patrons. To make that happen, it requires a considerable investment in both staffing and ticketing technologies. The ticketing fee covers that investment. The fee applies to all transactions: online, over the phone, or in person.

  • I ordered my tickets online/over the phone? Where do I pick them up?

    If you ordered your tickets online, you may print them out at home! One page will print and scan at the door for an entire order.  If you are not able to print them/ordered them over the phone, they are printed and ready for you at the Will Call window inside the lobby of the theatre. We recommend arriving 30 minutes in advance of curtain time in order to retrieve your tickets and get to your seat on time.

  • Why haven't I received a call back from the box office?

    Your call is very important to us and we strive to respond as quickly as possible. However, on high-volume days, it is not unusual for our Box Office staff to receive as many as 20 calls in the space of 10 minutes! We pride ourselves on giving each and every call and in-person visit our full attention so please be patient.

    Please note: during the hour prior to a show, our top priority is getting patrons into the show at hand in a timely fashion.  If you call during that time in regards to another matter, we may ask that we return your call after the current performance is up and running.

  • I have a coupon, but it won’t work online. Why?

    Some coupons work online, but not all. If a coupon is meant to work online, then you will be given a coupon code and explicit instructions on how to apply it in a sale. If it still is not working, please give us a call and we will work to resolve the problem for you.

    For example: Ithaca Guide to Being Local Buy One Get One as well as VIP vouchers and Gifttiks will NOT work online.

  • I bought tickets for a performance, but it turns out that I can’t make it for that time. Can I exchange tickets for another night?

    Tickets may be exchanged for a $3 fee. Subscribers may exchange their tickets as often as necessary for free. Get your subscription HERE to receive this perk along with many others!

  • I bought tickets, but it turns out that I can’t go at all. Can I get a refund?

    The Hangar has a strict no-refund policy.

  • What is your policy on children?

    Children under five are not permitted entry to any Mainstage performances. Age ranges for our KIDDSTUFF performances are up to the discretion of the parents or legal guardians.

  • What is (Pay) What You Will and how does it work?

    (Pay) What You Will is a sponsored program that focuses on providing access to theatre for patrons of all financial backgrounds.

    These tickets are not sold in advance and must be purchased in-person starting an hour before the show. When you purchase your ticket at these specially designated performances, tell the box office staff person how much you would like to pay for your ticket. Tickets are limited and sold based on a first come, first serve basis. Limit 4 tickets per party.
