A Note to our 2020 Subscribers:

To Our 2020 Subscribers,

The Show Must Go…Online!

After careful consideration of the continued impact of COVID-19, the Hangar Theatre has made the decision to replace all of our live artistic programming this summer with new, virtual experiences. We believe that this is the only responsible decision because of the safety issues we are all facing as a community and nation. We look forward to seeing how this crisis will lead to innovation, and how we will be able to continue serving the community and carrying out our mission.

From May 23 – August 8, 2020, we will offer five unique artistic virtual experiences as our 2020 season! Your subscription will automatically be rolled over to this platform, granting you access to these virtual experiences. We will also offer subscribers unique opportunities such as talk-backs, prologues, and behind-the-scenes events, just as we would in a live season.

These new, virtual experiences include:

·The Skin of Our Teeth, by Pulitzer Prize winner and Our Town playwright Thornton Wilder this Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

·Uncommon Excerpts and Others: The Wendy Chronicles, a brand-new evening of scenes and essays by Wendy Wasserstein on June 20 at 7:30 p.m

·Queens Girl In The World by Caleen Sintette Jennings, which we hope to bring to the stage in the summer of 2021 on July 11 at 7:30 p.m.

·Honk Your Horn: Celebrate! Musical! Theatre! featuring Austin Scott, who recently starred in Hamilton on Broadway on July 25 at 7:30 p.m.

·Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hamill, a timely take on Jane Austen’s classic novel by Lansing native and Ithaca College alum. Kate is one of the top 3 most produced playwrights in the nation, and adapted past Hangar productions Pride & Prejudice (2018) and Little Women (2019).

As a subscriber, you play an essential role in the Hangar’s health and longevity. Your continued enthusiasm for our work and passion for the arts in the Ithaca community inspire us constantly. Your support has never been more vital and we are excited to share this new lineup of virtual artistic programming with you this summer.
