Ithaca Ballet’s Fall Show: The Story of Babar and The Pied Piper of Hamelin
Saturday, October 21 @ 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
The Ithaca Ballet’s 2023-2024 season opens with two ballets. The The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a perfect Halloween tale of the medieval town of Hamelin where the magical Pied Piper is brought into town to solve the terrible rat problem. All is well until the ungrateful Mayor doesn’t want to pay the Piper for his work—and the tale twists from here. Choreography by Cindy Reid after an original ballet by Alice Reid.
The classic tale of Babar the Elephant is narrated by Peter Ustinov with music by Francis Poulenc. Poignant stories of Babar as a young elephant, losing his mother and being cared for by the kind old lady, to becoming King of the Elephants, are imaginatively portrayed in this production choreographed by Lavinia Reid.
