Special Fund in memory of Tom Niederkorn

As our climate patterns become increasingly unpredictable, the Hangar Theatre becomes even more susceptible to flood damage. To protect the theatre, the Hangar is planning on investing in a flood abatement system at a cost of $10,000. As a supporter, consider making a gift to the Tom Niederkorn Flood Abatement Fund.

One of the many individuals who made the Hangar Theatre what it is today was City Planner and Community Arts Leader Tom Niederkorn, who passed away in June 2020. The Hangar recently hosted a virtual memorial celebrating Tom’s stewardship and advocacy. Tom didn’t just secure the funding for a complete redesign and development of the Cass Park complex into a major regional recreation and cultural facility. He also got into the nitty-gritty, helping to flush out the water that inevitably flooded the Hangar each year.

Your gift to this fund will allow the Hangar to be a safe and flood-free space in years to come, and it celebrates the commitment that Tom Niederkorn had to maintaining the integrity of the theatre, both physical and intangible. Thank you for being part of the Hangar family, and for your support during this difficult time.
