The Sun Serpent tells the epic story of the conquest of the Aztec city-state of Tenochtitlan (now known as Mexico City) through the point of view of a young girl, Anáhuac, who struggles to save her world from the conquistador, Hernán Cortés. This time of pathos is uplifted by this sonorous story of hope and persistence and the birthing of the mestizo nation that is the Mexico of today.
