An epic new piece of theatre created by our town, for our town. An Odyssey will celebrate the skills and talents of Ithaca’s diverse communities, working alongside professional theatre artists, to create a fresh and unexpected adaptation of Homer’s unforgettable tale. With music, magic, and adventure for all ages, it will reflect the myriad journeys we have all been taking, and must continue to take, during this extraordinary time in our lives.

Workshop: Dramatic World Building: An Introduction to New Play 

Free workshop from the Community Arts Partnership! Work with Adapter/Director Samuel Buggeln (Artistic Director, Cherry Arts) and Dramaturg Shirley Serotsky (Artistic Director, Hangar Theatre) as they embark on a new play development process for the script of An Odyssey, You will learn and utilize vocabulary and concepts that are integral to new play development, and have the chance to read, hear, and discuss brand new scenes and characters, thereby becoming a part of the creation journey of this unique world premiere. Preview: Thursday, August 26

Previews are shows performed in front of an audience prior to their official opening. The purpose of preview performances is to give the director and creative team a chance to experience the production with an audience present, while adjustments can still be made. This summer, the Hangar will offer one preview for each production.

Tuesday Talkbacks: Every Tuesday, stay after the show to hear the cast and
creative team share insights and answer questions.
