Youth Programs

Students in grades 1-6 can spend their winter break exploring the world of theatre and storytelling through games, improvisation exercises, movement work, and design projects in a program that emphasizes teamwork, imagination, creative exploration, and confidence building.

  • Next Generation School of Theatre

    The Hangar’s Next Generation School of Theatre is an opportunity for young people to learn from theatre professionals while interacting with their peers--allowing them to awaken their most creative selves and helping them build life skills, self-awareness, and confidence that reach beyond the stage.   • Break-a-Leg

    In this week-long program, students explore what it’s like to adapt a children's book into an original, never before seen play! This program focuses on teamwork, imagination, movement, the power of play, and FUN! By week’s end, participants will have created and staged a short original theatre piece to present in front of friends and family on the Hangar stage! Read more »
  • Project 4: Artists in the Schools

    Since 1995, the Hangar’s Project 4 has been bringing teaching artists into fourth-grade classrooms throughout Tompkins County to facilitate the creation and performance of original plays and musicals, based on a topic from the NYS curriculum. Read more »
