The Show Must Go…Online!

After careful consideration of the continued impact of COVID-19, the Hangar Theatre has made the decision to replace all of our live artistic programming this summer with new, virtual experiences. We believe that this is the only responsible decision because of the safety issues we are all facing as a community and nation. We look forward to seeing how this crisis will lead to innovation, and how we will be able to continue serving the community and carrying out our mission.
From May through August, we will offer five unique artistic virtual experiences as our 2020 Mainstage season! These new, virtual experiences, chosen for these times of change, include: a reading of The Skin of Our Teeth, by Pulitzer Prize winner and Our Town playwright Thornton Wilder; Uncommon Excerpts and Others, an evening of scenes and essays by Wendy Wasserstein; a sneak peek at Queens Girl In The World by Caleen Sinnette Jennings (which we hope to bring to the stage in 2021), and two other exciting events, TBA!
We are in the process of transforming our in-person educational offerings into virtual experiences that combine the joy of creation, the satisfaction of skill-building, and the delight of collaboration. We will also be offering four free virtual KIDDSTUFF shows for young people (new adaptations of Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Magic Paintbrush, and The Emperor’s New Clothes), virtual classes, a virtual Lab Company, and more!
The best way to show your support at this time is to purchase a virtual subscription (just $149!), or make a donation to our theatre. We sincerely thank you for your continued support, and sticking with us through this difficult time. Onward, together!

An Announcement Regarding Spring Shows

With everyone’s safety in mind and following guidance from government officials, we have made the difficult decision to postpone all live events at the Hangar Theatre during the remainder of the month of March-May.

Ticket holders will be notified of rescheduled dates as they are confirmed, and tickets purchased will be honored for the new event dates.

As we adjust to the situation around us, Hangar staff remains optimistic about our summer 2020 season. We are moving forward with hiring and casting, and continuing with design meetings and season planning. We value art and community now more than ever, and hope you will joining us at virtual offerings and again in person this summer!
